Being one of the principled targets of the antiporn feminists for quite a while does force one to get a thick skin in order to survive some of their whackiest arguments.

But, from time to time, it is nice to have a “cheat” sheet that anticipates their assaults.

Enter Furry Girl of the blog Feminisnt , who decided to consolidate all of the antiporn screeds and shills she’s encountered into one convenient BINGO card. She has been grateful enough to allow me permission to repost her creation here.

If you are interested in an even larger image for copying and safe keeping, you can find it over at Furry Girl’s place here .

Probably the best Bingo card this side of Renegade Evolution’s original “Anti-Sex Work” Bingo card she created last year:

Ren’s original post and card can be found here.

Feel free to use both of them for your next battle with the GenderBorg or the Pseudo-Radfems.  Just remember to give Furry Girl and Ren their just credits.

    What's "90%" a reference to?

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Anthony_K Anthony Kennerson

"90% refers to a often cited claim by anti-sex work activist Melissa Fairley that "90%" of all "prostituted women" (her loaded term for sex workers) want out of the business. The assumption is that all those sex workers are victims of all kinds of abuse and rape from their male clients.

This is a simplification of some arguments that are really good (and obviously hard to refute, which is why it is necessary to present them in this way that will make them appear ludicrous or easy to dismiss), and in the end does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to promote a discussion which might lead to a solution to a very complicated problem. But, well done for being clever. This will be extremely helpful to anyone interested in this issue.

Btw, I really would like someone to present a reliable survey that shows that most prostitutes are actually happy with their job and would not choose another that was paid just as well.

      @ Koko:

You forget, though…my intentions here with this post is NOT to entice a discussion or to lead to a solution. It is simply to promote an alternative view in opposition to the prevailing "radical feminist" view that sex work should simply be wiped off the face of the earth because it automatically leads men to rape and kill women.

As to the viability of the arguments addressed by Furry Girl and Ren…well, they have themselves at their own locales defended their beliefs and their positions pretty darn well, I think; if you have a beef with them, then I suggess you have it out with them.

You, I guess, want a "discussion" that winds up with your position being on top. Sorry, but I just can't give you that, and simply won't allow this venue to be used as your personal soundboard. There are plenty of antiporn feminist boards and blogs and other venues for your side to attempt to control the debate; I reserve my right as a progressive, a sex-positive Leftist, and a supporter of Left Libertarian Feminism, to give the contrarian point of view. Love it, hate it, do whatever you want with it….but accept it.

No, I don't want a discussion to wind up on top, I want a discussion because this is a hotly contested issue among feminists, and the only way it is possible to resolve it is to have reasonable arguments with both sides willing to hear each other out. Radical anti-porn feminists (which I am not, but obviously you are not willing to accept there might be people who cannot disagree with your position in any way with out being completely and radically anti-porn) are doing this same thing when they simplify the arguments of their opposition, which only results in the fact that either the debate is a priory cancelled out because both sides hate each other before they even begin talkin, or, if they do begin talking, the simplify or misconstrue the arguments of the other side so they could easily defeat them and prove their point. But very little is actually done to try to understand the nuances between different positions, and where the other side is coming from. And both sides are guilty of this, frequently. And your earlier comment directed to me at the other thread, where you assign to me attitudes which I neither support nor have even remotely voiced, actually proves this quite well.

And I absolutely love the fact how the expression of a view you disagree with you consider to be an attempt to "control the debate", like I'm stopping you from expressing your views because I disagree in some way. That's just absolutely precious.
